Netflix will be entitled to its Chernobyl. Le Film Français reports today that the SVOD service has ordered a docu-fiction mini-series on the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame-de-Paris cathedral on April 15, 2019. According to media reports French, this mini-series, whose title is La part du feu, would take six episodes of 60 minutes each. She would portray “a choral story that explores the impact of this fire on different characters across France.” The series would be directed by Hervé Hadmar, who just emerged from the Romance series on France 2. The latter is already known for many series like Pigalle, la nuit on Canal + or Les Forgotiés on France 3.
The share of fire would be produced by Cheyenne Federation and Julien Madon, in collaboration with the Paris Fire Brigade and the essayist Romain Gubert. The latter had been the co-authors of the book “La nuit de Notre-Dame” (éd. Grasset), published last November. “The only fact in history is that the heroes of this night wrote these pages, can we read on the back cover of the book on which The Part of Fire seems to be based. With their words, their fears and above all their courage, the firefighters tell of this powerful adversary who takes away every year some of their own, this intimate fight with the flames. ” The future Netflix series will not be the only one to deal with the fire of the famous cathedral. In November 2019, the companies Pathé and Vendôme already announced preparing a mini-series “à la Chernobyl” on the event, for 2021. In addition, last April, the director Jean-Jacques Annaud declared his intention to carry out a long – footage, mixing re-enactment and real images, devoted to the cathedral fire. Finally, it should be noted that Netflix has still not given any news of its film announced in 2018 and adapted from the work of Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with Idris Elba in the title role.
