A brand new 20W Apple charger has just leaked. It could be delivered with the next iPhone 12, which is scheduled to be released this fall, unless Apple decides to simply remove the charger unit from its box, as a contradictory rumor suggests.
The release of the iPhone 12 is getting closer and information about it is starting to get denser. This time, the information is not about the smartphone itself, but rather the contents of its box. According to leaker Mr White, with generally reliable information, the iPhone 12 could be delivered with a brand new charger with a power of 20W, and equipped with a USB-C port.
The charger block in question has even been certified by NEMKO, a Norwegian body which certifies electronic equipment. However, it remains to be seen whether it will be included in the iPhone 12 box, but also what model it could equip. To date, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are not delivered with the same charger. The iPhone 11 has a 5W USB-A charger unit – the same one that has been found for years in the iPhone box – and the iPhone 11 Pro is entitled to a USB-C charger from 18W, the same one that also equips the iPad Pro. Apple could therefore repeat this scheme this year and supply this new charger unit only on its most expensive models.
In addition, as MacRumors notes, analysts at Barclays believe that Apple could go so far as to remove the charger unit from the box of its next smartphones, just like headphones. A rumor which occurred a few weeks ago already supposed the absence of the famous EarPods from the box of the iPhone 12, but the information remains to be taken with tweezers since smartphones sold in Europe must necessarily be supplied with a hands-free kit . If Apple were to take the headphones and charger unit out of the box, it would mean that this new 20W charger could be sold separately. It remains, of course, to wait for the release of the iPhone 12 to find out.
